The “Addiction Talk with Young People,” organized by our University’s Science Communication Office, was held with the intense participation of young people. The event was organized with the aim of bringing scientific knowledge together with young people on the subject of addiction, types of addiction, and combating addiction, increasing the level of awareness, and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

 

Within the scope of the program, Prof. Dr. Yağmur Küçükbezirci, President of the Konya Branch of the Green Crescent, and Betül Palta, Social Work Specialist at the Green Crescent Counseling Center, shared comprehensive information on the individual, social, and psychological dimensions of addiction and on how to combat addiction. The presentations addressed types of addiction such as substance, technology, and behavioral addictions, as well as risk factors, methods of prevention, and professional support mechanisms. In particular, the importance of gaining awareness and early intervention during youth was emphasized.

 

In the question-and-answer section of the talk, participants directed to the experts the issues they were curious about regarding the problems encountered in the process of combating addiction, application channels, and support services. This section, conducted interactively, ensured the active participation of the students in the subject while offering the opportunity to access accurate and reliable information directly.

 

At the end of the event, various gifts were presented to the students who participated in the program. The talk, carried out under the coordination of the Science Communication Office, became an exemplary science communication activity that contributed to raising awareness among young people and strengthened university–society interaction, in line with the university’s mission of transforming scientific knowledge production into social benefit.
