Our university has achieved a significant milestone by being included for the first time in THE Impact Rankings 2025 announced by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most respected higher education ranking organisations. In the assessment conducted in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations, our university achieved a remarkable performance by ranking in 14 goals. Accordingly, our university ranked in the 1500+ band in the overall ranking.
The successes recorded in the areas highlighted in THE Impact Rankings 2025 once again demonstrated KTÜN's commitment to sustainable development goals. Our university ranked in the 601–800 band globally under the headings ‘Zero Hunger’ (SDG 2) and ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ (SDG 6), while ranking 46th and 44th respectively in Turkey. Our university also ranked in the 601–800 band globally for ‘Life on Land’ (SDG 15), placing 50th in Turkey. In the ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ (SDG 8) category, it ranked 801–1000 globally and 42nd in Turkey. Furthermore, in the ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ (SDG 12) category, it ranked 801+ globally and 65th in Turkey, achieving its first ranking success in this area.
Despite participating for the first time, our university achieved success in many categories, ranking in the 601–800 and 801–1000 bands, and managed to quickly translate the impact of its sustainability efforts into tangible results. The consistent implementation of sustainability and visibility-focused strategies at the institutional level is considered an important step that will further strengthen our university's position internationally.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, stated the following in his assessment of this achievement: "Our university's strong performance in THE Impact Rankings, in which it has been included for the first time, is a source of great pride for the entire KTÜN family. This success clearly demonstrates how seriously we take our environmental and social responsibilities, in addition to our education, teaching and research activities. We will continue our work with the same determination to increase our contributions to sustainable development goals and make them even more visible. I congratulate all our academic and administrative staff who contributed to this success."
This significant achievement once again demonstrates that our university actively contributes to global sustainability goals not only through its academic performance but also through its socially and environmentally conscious stance.
Our university, which has made sustainability an integral part of its corporate culture, remains committed to expanding its sphere of influence by increasing its environmental, social and economic responsibilities.
This first and significant achievement within THE Impact Rankings is a concrete demonstration that it will not only enhance our university’s international visibility but also advance its vision of adding value to society.
