“Artificial Intelligence and its Press Applications Training Program” was organized in cooperation with our university and Konya Regional Directorate of the Presidential Communications Directorate.
It was held at Taş Bina Culture and Art Center and the members of the press operating in Konya, Aksaray and Karaman were briefed the past, present and future of artificial intelligence.
The applications of artificial intelligence in the press were explained in the training program organized by the faculty members of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning department opened within Konya Technical University (KTÜN) as the first and only in Konya.
Oğuz Tunç, Regional Director of the Presidency of Communication, emphasized the importance of raising awareness on artificial intelligence and said: “In an environment where it is not clear whether the information and news is produced by humans or robots, it should not be ignored that traditional media has a serious opportunity to gain the trust of the society. Tunç continued his speech as follows:
“While the ability of artificial intelligence to emphasize and reproduce the desired information or message increases disinformation, it is seen that the same artificial intelligence technologies facilitate and accelerate traditional press activities. In this respect, we attach great importance to the meeting of the possibilities and capabilities of artificial intelligence technologies, which can perform many activities autonomously, with members of the press who are not blind to the realities of the society and geography they live in, and their effective use in the struggle for truth."

Afterwards, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Deveci said that we live in the age of technology and it is not possible to stay behind technology. Pointing out that technology makes life easier in many areas, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Deveci stated that as KTÜN, in order to contribute to technological developments and the development of the country, we will continue to support all kinds of studies that can be beneficial to the country.
After the speeches, within the scope of the program, KTÜN Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering faculty members, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Department Head Prof. Dr. Mesut Gündüz and Software Engineering Department Head, Artificial Intelligence Application, Research Center Director Dr. Faculty Member Engin Eşme made a presentation on artificial intelligence.
At the end of the program, the lecturers were presented with a plaque of appreciation and various gifts.
