A Successful Completion of the BIP Program through Collaboration among Türkiye, Romania, and Serbia at Our University

Our university, under the leadership of the Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinatorship and hosted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has successfully implemented an important international educational program.

The "Robotics" themed Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), supported by the Presidency of the European Union's Turkish National Agency, was launched online between June 23-27, 2025, and concluded with in-person sessions held from July 14-18, 2025. The program, which aimed for interdisciplinary learning, international cooperation, and cultural interaction, was coordinated by our University's Erasmus+ Deputy Institutional Coordinator and BIP Supervisor, Lec. Dr. Teslime Gökgöl. Department Coordinator Prof. Dr. Rahime Ceylan and Assistant Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Çimen also played active roles in the program. Partner institutions included Universitatea Nationala de Stiinta si Tehnologie POLITEHNICA Bucuresti and Universitatea Petrol Si Gaze Ploiesti from Romania, and the University of Nis from Serbia.

During the in-person sessions, 28 students from Romania were accompanied by Loredana Ioana Pita, the Erasmus Coordinator from Universitatea Petrol Si Gaze Ploiesti, and faculty member Elena Mihai. Additionally, Dr. Miodrag Spasic, from the University of Nis in Serbia, gave a lecture as an invited scholar.

The academic content of the program was enriched through robotics-themed lectures delivered by our university faculty members Prof. Dr. Bayram Akdemir, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Akif Durdu, Dr. Mücahid Barstuğan, and Dr. Abdullah Çakan from the Department of the Mechanical Engineering. In addition, a course on "Turkish Culture" by Lec. Dr. Teslime Gökgöl contributed to the promotion and appreciation of Turkish culture.

Alongside the educational activities, participants also had the opportunity to explore Konya’s historical and cultural richness through city tours. These events made possible by the contributions of local stakeholders such as Kapsül, Atmosfer Bosna Youth Center, Dolash Konya, and Nezih Konya Cuisine, provided an unforgettable experience for the guests.

This BIP program, representing a significant milestone in our university’s internationalization vision, not only strengthened academic cooperation but also offered students an interdisciplinary perspective, adding a new dimension to engineering education.
