Karapınar Sinkhole Investigation Trip (17.08.2020)

Within the scope of the protocol between Konya Technical University Obruk Application and Research Center and Konya Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency (AFAD) to reduce the risk of sinking in the Konya Basin, AFAD and Obruk Application and Research Center visited the newly formed sinkoles in the Karapınar region on 17.08.2020. Şükrü ASLAN, AFAD Provincial Directorate project coordinator assistant Yaşar AKKAYA, AFAD Provincial Directorate Improvement Branch Manager Hakan YALVAÇ, AFAD Provincial Directorate Map Eng. Cemalettin GÜLLÜOĞLU, Director of Sinkhole Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Fetullah ARIK, Asist. Director of Sinkhole Center Assoc. Dr. Arif DELİKAN, Asist. Director of Sinkhole Center Dr. Yeşim ÖZEN, Sinkhole Central Board Member Asist Prof. Dr. Güler GÖÇMEZ attended. In the study, the Mısırlı plateau formed in the last 20 days is 21 m in diameter and 20 m deep in the beet cultivated land, the long axis is 33 m in the corn cultivated land in Kirkitoğlu Plateau, the long axis is 33 m, the short axis is 30 m long, the elliptical shape is 21 m deep, in the Karakuyu Plateau is 15 m in diameter and 1.5 m in the Beet field. Measurements and observations were made in the sinkholes.
